Hi - have run XP Pro 64-bit, & a couple of Linux distros: given that I have only 3GB of RAM [max rational memory in a 32-bit OS] is there any in a 64-bit OS? . . .

Yes,
If you like searching for drivers, editing installation files, or just plain love pain, then there is a point! Smiley   We have a few 64 bit boxes and the only reason is that when it comes to rendering graphics, the more memory the better.  [We have a design build department, and we render buildings/projects for the owners to help them see what we can do for them].  The two graphics guys have 64 bit boxes and the rendering box is 64 bit.  They use over 4GB of RAM and that is the only reason we have them.
