Hi there

I've been getting continuous i/o error while trying to burn anything!

I started out trying to backup my dvds and it was working for a few then i started getting the errors.

My burner is: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-110D

I firstly update the firmware to version 1.41
And i then made sure no other program was running while burning.

This worked for 1 or 2 dvds then the error started coming up again.

I then tried to just back up some documents and files on my computer and again it worked once and then after that i kept getting the error.

I am using Sony DVD-R 16x discs!

I've tried using nero, imgburn, dvddecrypter, everything and i get all the same error!

I then tried burning at 8x and it works for the first disc of the day, but if i try to burn a second dvd the error comes up

This is my latest nero error log file from today:

Hi - have owned this burner: Sony -Rs not the best-quality disks for it; but should be OK. Verbatim +Rs would be my choice - specifically the A1-quality ones using Taiyo Yuden dye.

. . . . try disabling the IMAPI service [a sort of generic Nero fix]; then reboot & try a burn; if this doesn't work, clean the lens of your 110D, either with a cleaning-disk, or get a can of compressed air [the sort photographers use to clean lenses] & squirt determinedly into the upper back of the open tray.

Please report back so we know how things are going - good luck. My 110D died, as did the 112D I replaced it with.

Start up explorer (explorer not IEE) right click on the drive and select properties, select the recording tab and uncheck "enable CD recording on this drive".  Reboot the computer and try to burn again.

A power calibration error is often media-related.

While Sony discs can be excellent, some of them are not so hot.

- Sony DVD-R or DVD+R "made in Taiwan" are usually really good (from Daxon Taiwan)
- Sony "made in Japan" are excellent, although not manufactured anymore (from Taiyo Yuden)
- Sony "made in India" seem to give mixed results (from Moser Baer)
- Sony "made in Malaysia" tends to be awful, lots of failed burns (from Daxon Malaysia)

More information on blank DVD media quality at http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm

If better media, such as Verbatim, still gives problems, then it's time to look at the burner. The Pioneer 111 is a number of years old now, it may simply be dying.
