I've heard that when you burn a cd and then play it through a car cd player, eventually the laser will burn out, has anyone else heard of this, and if so is there a particular cd brand that will over-comr this problem

. . . no; this is very unlikely indeed. Just possible, I guess, that poorly-written CDRs *might* have the player seek excessively; but this wouldn'tt "burn out" the laser.

If you use good media [ideally Taiyo Yuden] & burn it at the recommended speeds or lower, you'll be OK.

i didnt know that, but i think if the laser pointer of your player gets dusty in the long run of use, it will not work properly. but maybe in some case a poor quality cd can also contribute to short life of a player.
